Tanked!

So, I have embarked on a new journey. I begun a new era, and yes I am excited about it. I want a dog sooo bad. I want a Springer Spaniel just like the ones that my Grandma and myself raised back in high school out in Colorado. They are just the best dog ever. I live in an apartment, and am a full-time student once again... a dog doesn't fit in that kind of circumstance. Im not the biggest cat fan. I like a cat that lives outside, hunts mice, and yet will let you pet it every once in a while. Most cats live completely on thier own terms. Its not really fair.

I have always wanted an aquarium. I dream of when I become rich and famous and am able to design parts of my house to be awesome. Part of my house being awesome includes one of those aquarium walls. A huge aquarium that is filled with all sorts of exotic fish. I took the first step towards realizing that dream today. I went and bought a 10 gallon aquarium. (The one in the wall would probably be about 125 gallons or so.) Isn't this what life is all about? Knowing your dreams, figuring out how to make them come true, and then realizing it takes more than just dreaming, but usually something like money, hard work, or determination plays more of a part than we wish it had to.
Spending the summer of 2005 in Kona, Hawaii heightened this little idea. Snorkeling was an experience that is hard to describe. It gave me a sense of relaxation, an awe of nature, and it captured all of my care. When I was snorkeling, I wasn't worried about life, I wasn't upset at anything. Snorkeling was really cool just based on the fact that these vividly colored fish and other sea creatures actually exist in the wild! Living in the areas that I have, you could see how it would be easy to think that the only fish that really live in the wild are trout, bass, and salmon. Nemo is nothing more than a cartoon until you snorkel!!!
Today I finally coughed up the money to buy the starter kit aquarium. I haven't purchased the fish just yet, as Im still realatively unsure which fish I want. I can only have about 6 or 7, and most aquarium fish are "community fish" which means you normally buy about 3 or 4 at a time. This cuts my options as to how many species to put into the tank. I am just elated that soon I will be able to gaze into the little liquid filled box, hopefully find a piece of that amazing relaxation I felt in Hawaii, and know that one little step of my dream has been realized!

This post is also a cry out for assistance. If anyone that stumbles upon this blog knows anything about being "tanked" feel free to drop me words of wisdom.
