Once Upon a Time...

Once upon a time there was a young boy growing up in rural Colorado. This young boy was becoming a man and he knew it by the way he was now able to drive alone. He didnt have a great first car, but who really needs that anyways. This young boy found out very quickly that speed was something he craved. Through family back in Michigan racing at a dirt- track, or attending NASCAR races, this boy knew his life needed some influence of speed at all times. One way to assure that this could occur, was to take his POS vehicle and break the speed limit everytime he was in the drivers seat.

For a total of nearly nine years this boy, turned young man, found a way to elude law enforcement time and time again. It wasnt that they didnt check up on him every now and again to issue their warning, but it was the fact that he NEVER was penalized with a speeding ticket....ever. Through a total of about 15 traffic stoppages, this youngster somehow charasmatically found a way of explaining that he would slow down, only to get off scott free again.

This time was different.

Nine years into his (official) driving life, this young man was simply on his way to work, harming no one, yet cruising the city street at 52 mph in a 35mph zone. How the frick does someone go that fast and not even notice!?

Enough of the BS story...I finally got busted and am unhappy about it. I took pride in the fact that I sped everywhere...we are talking Oklahoma to Colorado...Michigan to Colorado...Tennessee to OKC...apartment to Dairy Queen...EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE all at a healthy average of at least 9mph over the speed limit and never had been issued a ticket...many warnings but never a ticket.

Today the officer gave me a "break" and i thought i was off again...nope. Here's the kicker: $110!!!!! UNREAL!

Maybe I should shut up...divide $110 by about 15 warnings and its not so bad.

Let me make sure to explain my need for speed: I sped all the way to and from the courthouse where I had to pay the fine...this is in my blood....
