Whats your "Golden Ticket"

So many things in this life are exciting. A wedding, a pregnancy, family get togethers, parties with friends, etc... The list can go on and on. While that list is a good ol family mans list, why does it seem we end up most excited about meaningless events at times? Think about how many people are excited each and every day for things that seem meaningless in the big picture of life. Some people get more excited to buy something for their pottery or coin collections, than they do to see a brother or sister they haven't seen in a year.

I deal with this almost everyday. I get excited to see people, for sure. However, I find no excitement like the thought of exactly one week from today I will be going to a Tigers game versus the Red Sox, that in August I will be going to a Kenny Chesney concert at Detroit's Ford Field, and that come November, I will be at the great rivalry game between my beloved Spartans and the dreaded Wolverines, and literally the next day will be attending my very first Broncos game (its about time this happened!) the very next day when they play the Detroit Lions (who?). HOW EXCITING HUH!?!

I am a sportsnut, obviously. But why is it that it takes huge events for me to become excited? I want to strive to be more excited about the small things in life. I don't want to live event to event. I need to see the daily existence of my life as exciting. If I don't, I will spend nearly 99% of my life waiting for the next event!

The "Golden Ticket" that seems to always excite me may be different for you. Maybe its the paycheck you hope to receive someday, maybe its the new model of your favorite car you hope to own, maybe its something as simple as you favorite weekly sitcom...whatever it is, remind yourself today that you live for more than the next big thing in your life. Live each day as something exciting, something to learn from, and something to become better from. Live each day with love for another, or many others. Some face hopelessness every single day, so at least be excited that you have the chance to be excited!

Good thoughts, true thoughts, and lively thoughts. I wonder why many of us don't get excited when we see oppression and injustice?

When you said the Golden Ticket all I could think about was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Now there was a movie about social justice. Seriously, I share your enthusiasm for sports however, since we had our son nothing compares. My family is my Golden Ticket.
