Does it slow down...ever?

Busy-ness has been abundant in my life this summer. Im taking 3 classes this summer, 2 in the first session and 1 in the second. Im working a great job, one that I love and seem to be improving at all the time. The tricky part comes with it being summer and having two families activities to keep up with. Don't get me wrong, these activities are full of fun, keeps family ties strong, and shows support for those who are hosting or organizing these little activities. The balance of staying sane while trying to take on many other engagements (NO not that one) is by far one of the hardest things I go through daily. I love the things I (we) do. I mean come on, Tigers games, Wedding receptions, Graduations, bbq's at the Lake, Fishing, just endless things that are great!
My girlfriend Charlotte's family is one of the closest nit families Ive ever met. They have a reunion each year! It has been an adjustment for me to take on the list of things they take part in. The adjustment hasn't always come easily, but the growth I have experienced during the past year and a half have taught me some interesting lessons. I'm not sure if I am being molded into something, or if my personality is being enhanced. Whatever it is...its more fun than anything, and I enjoy the time spent without a doubt. But nonetheless, I am becoming more of a believer that business is not natural. It has become something that our world has thrust upon us, making us believe that if we aren't busy, we aren't productive. Or that if we take a moment to relax and take in nature, creation, or peacefulness we are lazy!
It goes further, with salaries being based on amount of work done, not the amount of time to get work done. Business occurs because we don't feel comfortable turning our cell phones off because someone might need to get ahold of us. I can't go anywhere without speeding. I always have, and the police have yet to tell me so. Never been ticketed, ever. Life is fast as it is, we seem to be getting better and better at making it go by faster and faster, fitting more and more into each hour, day, and week. Maybe that lil ol 70 year old blue hair has it right on the road...just maybe I should take note. Maybe she knows...you can go as fast as you want, but as you get older, it seems you wouldn't want to speed up the process of anything!

SLOW DOWN!!!

As you know, I love The Andy Griffith Show. There is an episode about a high pace man that gets stopped in Mayberry. He appears to hate it, but then he comes to love the slow pace of life. I think it is a good thing for us to slow down. Good thoughts!
